GRACE KITCHEN

In 2012, a weekly food distribution service for the homeless began in central Rome. At the beginning, 20/30 meals prepared by the volunteers at home were distributed, then they met on the street and prepared packets containing a complete meal (pasta, sandwiches, sweets, handkerchiefs and fruit) and then went to distribute the dinner.

Over the years, from 30, the homeless have become 80/90. This proved complicated in preparing the food packets for the food distribution in the street, especially in winter.

In 2018, as if in a dream, a lady, aware of the Service, decided to offer the "Casa del Divino onlus" free loan to an empty apartment that she owned near the place where the Service was held. In a short time the apartment was renovated and became a large kitchen with everything needed to prepare food, no longer individually at home but all together!

The "Grace Kitchen" was inaugurated on December 16th 2018.

This kitchen helps us improve the quality of service, but more importantly, it helps us grow as human beings! By working together, we can learn to share our skills and act as a united group, ready to respond to any request.

The service, scheduled every Wednesday evening, has so far been attended by several people, added to the usual group, of about 20 volunteers.

From May 2019 onwards the distribution of the dinner also began in St. Peter's square.

From May 25 2019 onwards, the distribution of breakfast to about 35/40 people began every Saturday in San Pietro.

From 18 October 2019 onwards, dinner is also distributed on Friday.

2018 - 2304 meals

2019 - 4974 meals and 1056 breakfasts
